A varied walk around Hosehill Lake, up to Sulhampstead & back along the Kennet & Avon canal. The lake hosts a wide variety of water fowl & has its own Sand Martin nesting area.

Park in Bramshill Common Wood CP, Post Code: RG27 0PR. A varied walk along mainly paths and tracks through woodland and farmland. The walk starts by walking through the Bramshill Plantation exiting to the north. It joins the Blackwater Valley Path towards Finchampstead and then to Eversley Cross. The return is via St Mary’s Church following part of the Three Castles Path and then through Heath Warren Wood back to the start. BRING PACKED LUNCH.

Park in Pangbourne main car park nr Village Hall, post code: RG8 7AN. This walk passes the Alpaca farm at Boze Down and through typical Chiltern farmland with views across the Thames valley, finish by coming down Whitchurch Hill. There are a few steep sections.

Meet 10.45 at Goring and Streatley rail station nearest Post Code: RG8 0EL. The 10.21 from Reading arrives at Goring at 10.35. Leave the station by the exit on the town side, not the ticket office side, and meet immediately outside. A linear walk from Goring to Pangbourne. We start initially along the Thames Path, then climbing – the only steep climb – to parallel the river with great views, then descending to Whitchurch and Pangbourne Station for half-hourly trains back to Goring. Much catering available in Pangbourne and Whitchurch. Trains from Pangbourne towards Reading leave at roughly 17 and 47 past the hour, or back to Goring at 01 and 31 minutes.

Park on the Byway Curridge Green almost opposite the turn off to Curridge School (nearest postcode RG18 9EA). The walk is in 2 loops. The first loop of 6 miles goes south through open fields with good views to reach Shaw. It then goes east with views over the Kennet valley to pass Henwick Manor before going north to return to the start point. The second loop goes north through Curridge and then through woods and tree lined tracks up to the motorway before looping south back to the start. BRING PACKED LUNCH.

Coming from Kingsclere on the B3051, park in the White Hill Car Park, (nearest post code RG26 5UD) or in the layby on the RHS of the road. NOTE that there is no correct postcode; however RG20 5PX will take you to the B3051 just outside Kingsclere. From this post code proceed up the hill for almost a mile until you reach the parking area. This is a beautiful walk, with wonderful views over Berkshire and Hampshire. The paths are generally good and the walk is undulating including 3 ascents which total 470 feet. We will be having lunch at the Vine Public House in Hannington after the walk. A gradual climb through The Holies, Grims Ditch and Stitchens Green onto Lardon Chase at the top of Streatley Hill, then steeply down onto The Ridgeway. It’s not as strenuous as it sounds and worth it for the views.

This is a circular walk with gentle undulation taking in Woodspeen, Donnington Castle, the village of Bagnor and the River Lambourn valley. We return to the car park via Hunts Green.
