Forty-three of our members, regular walkers and some new members, met for a 4 mile walk through Upper Basildon countryside. The weather was glorious with wonderful views across the fields. This large group was divided in to two teams, one walking the route clockwise and the other anticlockwise. It was with relief that the two groups met half way – no-one had got lost!
Both groups returned to Peter and Susan Twitchett’s house where a BBQ and buffet lunch was enjoyed by all. John Banks was presented with a painting, a gift from this group in recognition of all the hard work he has done for the group over the last 18 years and Liz received a magnificent hydrangea plant for their new home in Sussex where they will move later this month. Both were presented with a farewell cake, made and decorated by Sue Spires. We all enjoyed a splendid day socialising together with many of us looking forward to the two Pang Valley Ramblers holidays; the Malverns in October and Slovenia next June.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Susan and Peter for hosting this event and also to their daughter and son-in-law and to Sue Spires for all their hard work with the organisation, the food preparation and the barbecue.
